SOUTH WEST AC INSTALLATION

Choosing the Right
Air Conditioner

First and foremost, you’ll want to assess the size of the space that needs to be cooled. Factors such as insulation, the number of windows, and the amount of direct sunlight the area receives can all impact the size and type of air conditioning system you’ll need. Our expert electricians can help you determine the most suitable option based on these factors.

Additionally, consider your budget and energy efficiency requirements. While more energy-efficient models may have a higher upfront cost, they can lead to significant savings on your energy bills in the long run. Our team can provide advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient options available in Margaret River.

Types of Air Conditioning Systems

Split Systems

These consist of two main components – an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. They are ideal for cooling single rooms or small areas and can be installed relatively easily. They are energy-efficient and offer precise temperature control.

Ducted Systems

Ducted systems are designed to cool multiple rooms or an entire building. They distribute cool air through a network of ducts and vents, providing consistent cooling throughout the space. Ducted systems are discreet and allow for zoned cooling, enabling you to control the temperature in different areas independently.

Determining Right Size and Capacity For Your Air Conditioning System

Selecting the right size and capacity for your air conditioning system is crucial to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. An oversized system will cycle on and off frequently, leading to increased energy consumption and poor humidity control.

On the other hand, an undersized system will struggle to cool the space adequately and may run continuously, resulting in excessive wear and tear.

At MCE Electrical, we understand the importance of choosing the right air conditioning system for your needs in Margaret River.

Our team of expert electricians is here to assist you every step of the way. By conducting a thorough assessment of your space, including factors such as square footage, insulation, ceiling height, and number of occupants, we can accurately calculate the cooling load and recommend the perfect system size and capacity for your home or business.

Our Process for Quality Service

Every job runs the same way, whether it’s a winery breakdown or general home electrical wiring, Southwest Power Solutions provides clear communication, careful work, and no shortcuts on safety. Here’s what working with us looks like:

Step One

Consultation & Quote

Every job starts with a proper conversation. Whether we come out to site or talk it through over the phone, we take the time to understand what you actually need — the problem you’re solving, the result you’re after, and any constraints like budget, timing, or a winery’s vintage schedule. From there you get a clear, no-obligation quote and a straightforward plan, so there are no surprises: you know the scope, the cost and the approach before any work begins

Step Two

Efficient Delivery

Once you’re happy with the plan, we get on with it. We turn up when we say we will, work efficiently, and keep your home or site tidy as we go. Across installs, repairs, switchboard upgrades, fit-outs and breakdowns, the work is done to Australian electrical standards — never shortcuts. And if anything changes once we’re underway, you hear it from us first, so the timeline and the budget stay under control.

Step Three

Quality Assurance & Ongoing Support

We don’t pack up until everything’s been tested and signed off. Before we leave, we check the work for safety and compliance and provide the electrical certification to prove it — which matters for insurance, resale, and your own peace of mind. And because we’re a local South West business, we’re not gone the moment the invoice is paid: if a question comes up later or you need us back, we’re a phone call away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Southwest Power Solutions is a licensed electrical contractor, licence number EC17555. In WA only a licensed contractor can legally do electrical work, and the law says that number has to be on your quote and invoice, so you can check us to make sure everything is legitimate. Building and Energy WA has a free licence search online and our EC number is all you need. We’re insured too, so if anything gets damaged on the job, you’re covered.

Do you charge a call-out fee, and how does pricing work?

You’ll get a price before we start, not after. For most jobs that’s a fixed quote, so you know the full cost up front with nothing hidden, waiting on the invoice. For smaller jobs or fault-finding we’ll tell you exactly how the charging works before we book anything in. Quotes are free, so if you want one, just get in touch.

Can I legally do my own electrical work?

Short answer, no. In WA it’s against the law for anyone who isn’t a licensed electrician to do fixed electrical work. That’s wiring, power points, light switches, and hardwired gear like ceiling fans and ovens. It isn’t just about paperwork either. Bad wiring starts fires, and work done by an unlicensed person can void your home insurance and get flagged when you sell. Plugging in an appliance is fine. Anything behind the wall, leave to us. If you are unsure about whether you need a Sparky or not, give us a call and we’d be happy to discuss it with you.

What areas do you cover?

All over the South West. Margaret River, Augusta, Busselton, Dunsborough and the towns around them. We’re ACTUALLY based here, not sending subcontractors to do the work and not driving down from Perth. We’re centrally located right here in the South West, so we can usually get to you quickly. If you’re in the region and not sure we reach you, give us a call. Chances are we do.

How do I know if my switchboard or wiring needs upgrading?

A few things are worth watching. Old ceramic fuses or no safety switches on the board, breakers that trip when you run a few things at once, warm power points, flickering lights, or a faint hot- plastic smell. A lot of older South West homes weren’t wired for all the high current appliances we have now, like air con, induction cooktops and EV chargers. If any of that sounds familiar, get it checked. We’ll tell you straight whether it’s urgent or it can wait, rather than just selling you a new switch-board.

The most important thing is that you have your electrical circuits on RCD. Their function is to protect you and your family to ensure in the event that something does go wrong. Your circuit is truly going ti cut out before an electric shock, or fire. If you’re unsure that they are compliant, please don’t delay in reaching out. It’s not worth the risk.
